For today's 33DC, I first thought I could do some stamping. But then, I remembered of those so pretty water decals with Koi fishes and chinese writing, so I chose them :)
I wanted to make some pink glitter sandwich, but you almost can't notice it in the pictures. It looked way better in real life :)

I started with two coats of Essie Blanc for the base, the added one coat of China Glaze Tinsel and covered it with one coat of OPI Think in Pink.
And finally, I added the water decals ! Aren't they gorgeous ?

I hope you like it :)

Have a nice day !
Hello !

Today's post will be a quick one, I need some rest after a week of training :)

So today's prompts was "a pattern in your home", and I didn't have to search a lot to know what I wanted to do !
I have a wallpaper in the stairs that looks totally like this, except the pattern isn't exactly the same. It's dark grey and has black and silver volutes, it was easy to achieve the look and the matte top coat made it look even more like the wallpaper lol :)

The base color is Kiko 381, a beautiful dark grey with hint of blue in it. I stamped the volute thing with black Konad polish and a plate<strike> I absolutely can't remember. I'll edit the post as soon as I find it !</strike> I found it ! It was Konad m63 ;)
Then I applied one coat of China Glaze Matte Magic, and stamped again the same pattern with China Glaze Millenium.

I applied the matte top coat before the silver stampig because I wanted to keep the original foil finish of the polish :)

I hope you'll like it !
Hello !

Hi dear readers !

Today's prompt for 33DC was 3D, and I wish I had some spikes or big resin flowers to do something funny with them, but I don't. So I went for something smaller but still some kind of 3D: studs !

Once again, I associated my manicure with saran wrap. This has really become my to-go technique !

On the ring finger, I applied two coats of Kiko 319 for the base, then painted a stripe of Catrice Purposely Purple in the middle and added studs all along that stripe.
On the other nails, I did a saran using Kiko 319, Catrice Dirty Berry and Catrice Purposely Purple.

I hope you like it !
I had a quick look at what the other girls did today, and I saw some impressive 3d nail art ! I love these :)
Hello !

J'adore :D

Bonne journée :)

Today's prompt for the 33DC was flowers ! I like this theme, there are so many possibilities !
It was a good opportunity to pick dried flowers, which I don't often use.

I picked the turquoise ones and did a kind of mix'n'match mani with matching polish.

The polishes I used were OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and H&M Bella's Choice. On my index and pinky, I used them in a saran wrap, and I did a gradient on the other nails.
I added the dried flowers, one thin coat of China Glaze Wireless and one coat of Seche Vite, that's all :)

I didn't really like those nails at first, but after wearing these for a few days, I kinda liked them :)

What do you think ?

Have a nice day :)
Hello !

Today's prompt for the 33DC was "Indian", and I immediately think of paisleys. The country related themes for the 33dc don't inspire me a lot, but this one was easy with the paisley pattern from Bundle Monster :)

I didn't know what color to use for my base, but I finally picked one of my favorites, a gorgeous pink filled with gold flecks. The bright, vivid pink and gold combo remind me a bit of Bollywood ;)
Hello !

Today's 33DC theme was Chevrons. I like that geometric pattern a lot, but I didn't want to go for a full nails chevron mani, so I decided to go for some skittle nails.

I saw that kind of manicure scheme almost everywhere and I like it a lot ! Bright pink, black and white chevron and some flashy polish for an accent, for which I chose a stunning holo shade, the well known Gosh Holographic :)

Hello !

Today's prompt for the 33DC was to use our oldest untried in a nail art.
I really had some hard times to find the oldest untried in my stash ! I'm ashamed to say it, but I have a LOT of untrieds ... I should really do something about that !

So, I made a selection and finally picked Eyeko Rain Polish. I have it since 2011 and never wore it.
By the way, I always feel a bit sad when it comes to Eyeko, because they were good (not the best for sure but still good) and had pretty colors, but they have been totally discontinued.

I made a simple and soft dandelion stamping over it, here's what it looked like !

Hello !

A propos d'Eyeko, ça me rend toujours un peu triste d'y penser !

Wow, I'm so impressed with the comments I had for my Mexican Nails ! You guys gave me more self-confidence, I had no idea someone could like those messy nails I did ! Thanks to you all, now you can be sure I'll redo those, working them even more to make them look better.
As some of you said in the comments, I was probably so disappointed because it didn't look like what I expected. I'm so glad to have your advices :)

For todays 33DC, which involved textured nails, I did something easy: I simply used a textured polish ^^
I didn't fall in love at all when textured polishes first appeared, so I don't have a lot of these. That trend only started to grow on me a few weeks ago and I wish I had more of these, so I could have done a textured gradient or have fun with many colors ! I seriously plan to get a few bottles from Kiko and Zoya :)

This pretty baby pink textured polish is Kiko 634. I used two coats of it, than stamped the always fab-looking clouds from Nailz Craze plate NC02 with white Konad polish.

Of course I didn't add top coat, and that felt totally weird to me as I'm not used to textured polishes yet ^^

I hope you like these !

Oh, today I received the new Bundle Monster set, they look fantastic and I already have tons of ideas to used them, even in the 33DC ! Be ready to see them a LOT ^^

Have a nice day :)
Hello !

Oh, I wished so hard that I never had to post that ... My Mexican nails for the 33DC are the most terrible FAIL I ever did since I started this blog !

I didn't have a lot of inspiration. I love Mexico, this country is full of interesting art, colorful designs (and I love their food haha), however, I couldn't find an idea that I would be able to reproduce on nails.

I finally found an idea that appealed me on Spektor's Nails blog: serape nail art !
Serape (or sarape) are those Mexican traditional long shawls, made of colorful stripes. Spektor's Nails did it with acrylic, so I thought, why not. I never worked with acrylics before, but the technique here seemed to be easy, mixing colors and applying them progressively with a thin brush to create a kind of gradient.

But hey, now I see mine, I think they are SO ugly haha ! Ready to see them ? I hope you won't get blind !
I used Essie Blanc as the base, all the other colors are mixed acrylics from a random brand I found at the supermarket. The quality isn't very good, that was a bad starts. And as a beginner with acrylics, when cleaning my brush I had too much water left on it or not enough, which didn't let me have a nice, regular result.
At least, I liked my pinky, the color mix on this one is kinda interesting in my opinion ! The blue gradient wasn't too bad but I hate the global manicure. I also removed too much paint when cleaning my cuticles, which let some white polish appear.

I showed these to my boyfriend and he said "It's nice ! Not Mexican, but nice." So I don't even think you could have recognized my inspiration if I didn't tell you haha :D

By the way, working with acrylics was fun and I will work that technique to create something better :)

Tell me your thoughts, I won't blame you if you hate these :D

Have a nice day :)

Hello !

Today, I was both pleased and worried by the 33DC theme, which is tribal nails.
Pleased, because that's something I really love. Worried, because I've never done any tribal pattern and I'm sooo bad with free hand drawing (especially when it involves straight lines)

So I decided to make it easier for me and tried something I've never done before: nail polish decals !
Let's see the result, then I'll explain you everything :) Oh, and sorry for the awkward hand pose, this is my right hand ! I totally messed the left hand up, while the right one was okay (that's nonsense as I'm right handed), so I took pics of the "good" hand ;)

For the base, I did a simple sponge gradient using Catrice Salmon & Garfunkel, China Glaze Something Sweet and OPI Rumple's Wiggin.

Now for the decals. You'll need a sheet of plastic or wax paper, a clear polish (or a top coat, I would avoid quick drying ones as I'm not sure about how they'd react with plastic), a permanent marker, a ruler, scissors, and free time.
I started by creating a long stripe of clear polish on the plastic sheet, I made it long and large enough to cover my nails. Make it in one piece, you'll cut it later.
Once it was dry, I drawed the tribal pattern directly on the clear polish. I used a ruler because I totally suck at drawing straight lines, even on paper haha :D
I let the ink sit for one hour to be sure it was dry, then I peeled off the polish stripe I started to cut it in pieces to fit my nails.
Proceeding one nail at once, I added a thin coat of clear polish on my nails, then I stuck the pieces of pattern and ended with a coat of Seche Vite to protect the design.

What I learned doing that, is you have to apply the decals very carefully, and try to apply them with the ink facing the nail, so it won't bleed when you apply your last coat of top coat.
I had to learn it the bad way, that's how I ruined my left hand !

That's all for today, I hope you like it ! I also hope my explanations are clear enough, maybe I should make a tutorial with pictures for that, what do you think ?

As a bonus, here's the gradient before I added the tribal pattern ;)

Hello !

I was very happy to see thhat the 33 Days Challenge included a striping tape manicure, as I love them a lot :)

My inspiration for today comes from The Nailasaurus. She has become one of the queens of tape manicures, she does very beautiful and intricate designs !

I used Catrice Oh My Goldness for the base and Essence Show me the Way for the topping color.
At first I planned to do the same design on my ten nails, but I was a bit tired and it took me an eternity to place the striping tape properly ! The Nailasaurus has to be an extremely patient person to create all her designs haha :)
So I only did two nails on each hand, and added a matching rhinestone on the non-decorated nails to create an accent.

I really liked the result and I'd love to create more intricate designs with striping tape, but I definitely need more time (and no kitties messing around) when doing these :D

I hope you like it :)

Have a nice day !
Hello !

J'ai utilisé Oh My Goldness de Catrice en base, et Show me the Way d'Essence comme couleur dominante.

I hope that you are enjoying the first days of the 33 Days Challenge ! Did you check what other girls did ? There are some fab designs !

The rule for the second day was to create a nail art with our most used polish. I didn't have to think a lot and to browse my collection to know which one was the most used: it's definitely Spontaneous by China Glaze !

Each time I decide to go for some purple, I grab that one. I love him sooo much ! I even force myself to chose another purple, otherwise you'd be fed up of it (and my bottle would be empty haha). Sometimes I even grab Catrice Lucky in Lilac instead of Spontaneous, because they are almost dupes and so I can save up my dear Spontaneous and keep it a bit longer. I don't think I'm crazy. I'm sure you'll understand :D

I went for a skittlette and saran wrap mani. Yeah, another one, I know. But it's a bit different as I worked with black, which makes the whole mani very dark. That's a kind of mani I haven't done for a while !
Here's what I did and used:
Thumb and index: two coats of A England Princess Tears
Middle and ring: two coats of Princess Tears as the base, then I did a first saran wrap using China Glaze Spontaneous, and once it was dried I did another saran wrap with NYC City Blackout
Pinky: Two coats of China Glaze Spontaneous, topped with Essence Punk Royal.

Punk Royal is a darkening top coat, like Dior's Rock Coat, but it also contains black sequins.
I like the smoky effect, but I'm not a fan of the sequins in this top coat. They were a bit hard to place without ruining the whole smoky effect. Btw, I don't dislike the result at all ;)

What about the saran ? Well, I *LOVE* how it turned ! I'm not used to dark shades anymore, but with the season coming back, I might try to work with them a little more ! I adore that purple and black combo, and I love how the holo sparkles look like veins in some fairy marble ...

I hope you like it as much as I did haha ^^ Please tell me your advice :)

Have a nice day :)

Hello !

Sooo, the 33 Days Challenge organized by The Crumpet's Nail Tarts has begun !
I'm very exctied about it, because I love most of the themes and also because it's my first challenge of this kind!
I've always wanted to participate in such a challenge, but most of the time you have to post one manicure per day, which is too much for me, and that also doesn't fit my usul blogging rythm.
So this one was perfect for me !

For the first day, we had to do a manicure with dots. I went for something simple as I still have to improve my dotting technique, but I was quite pleased with the result :)

I used two polishes for this mani: OPI Rumple's Wiggin is the lightest purple, and Catrice Purposely Purple is the darkest one.
I simply put dots randomly, using two sizes of dotting tools. Could it be easier ?

I hope you like it :)

Please check what the other participants did, right under this post ^^

Have a nice day :)
Hello !

I love fan brush manicures. They are so easy and quick to create but they can give you a stunning result :)
This time I did it in blue, using holographic polishes for some extra bling. The wonderful Tristam from A England was my inspiration ^^

I used A England Tristam as the base for the index and pinky.
The other nails were painted with two coats of Ulta Bam Blue Zled, then I added a small amounf of England Princess Tears with the fan brush. That polish, applied that way, was so ligh that you almost can't notice it, but it really added a lot of sparkle to the manicure.
Finally, I added A England Tristam on the middle and ring fingers with the fan brush technique to create those stripes.

I loved everything about this manicure :) I think I found the right combo with those two shades of blue. And holo is always a good choice, right ? ;)

If you want to know how to achieve this easy look, you can check this Youtube tutorial made by Simple Nail Art Designs. The great thing in that technique is it doesn't hve to be perfect to look fab :)

Hello !

Yesterday was my first day at "school" :D Well, it was some kind of introducing day so it was an easy one, but today we started learning the real stuff and I enjoyed it a lot ! Can't wait to see what's next ;)

I hope you don't easily get bored of saran wrap manicures, because I have another one for you today !
I used the technique in a skittlette, made of some nude, purple and glitter !
I used Essence Hazelnut Cream Pie for the base (except on pinky), Catrice Lucky in Lilac for the saran and Nubar Hyacinth Sparkle for the pinky.

I wanted something soft, and I think I succeded. I really love the association of nude and purple !

I hope you like it, too :)

Oh, and I still want to read your thoughts bout the new design ! What do you think about it ?
Have a nice day :)
Hello !

It seems the blogging habits are back for me, and I'm back from my "summer break" ! I painted my nails three times this week and ideas are coming back, so be sure to see regular posting here again :)

And right after this post, I'll be installing the new blog design :) I'm a bit nervous about this, I only hope you'll appreciate it ^^

It's has been more than one year since my last sugar spun manicure, so I decided to give it another try.
At first I wanted to make it bright pink and white, then I decided to add a small amount of black stripes and I loved it that way !

I used China Glaze Traffic Jam for the base, and two old and thick polish for the spun sugar: a white from H&M and my old black Konad.
Both are a bit too thick for their normal use, but they were perfect for this technique as I didn't have to work and stir them a lot to get the right consistancy.

Some of my stripes were very thick as you can see, but I loved it that way so I didn't top coat that manicure for the pictures. A few hours later, I added one cot of Seche Vite but sadly it made it look totally flat ! I'm glad to be able to show you the original look :)

Spun Sugar nails are not too hard if you chose to work with some older, thick polishes. You can see a great tutorial on The Nailasaurus blog if you want to learn this technique :)

I love this messy look ! What about you ? Have you already tried it ?

Have a nice day :)
Hello !

I have some personnal and less personnal updates to share with you today !

Let's start with the personnal stuff, I've been admitted for a medical secretary training ! I started the qualification tests back in june and this monday I was told I was admitted, yay !
This will starts next monday and will last six months. I'll have to study a lot, but it will leave me enough free time to paint my nails and keep the blog going on haha ! I also hope that having more organised, scheduled days will help me getting my inspiration back. It's not easy to find ideas when you don't even know how to start your day, right ?

The second thing is I decided to participate in the 33 Days Challenge organised by The Crumpet's Nail Tarts ! So, from september 23rd, I'll start posting my challenge pictures 3 times a week. It's my first challenge and I'm very excited to try it !
Please check the Facebook page if you want to enter, too :)

Finally, the new blog design is almost ready ! I'll probably install it tonight or tomorrow as I have some free time before my training starts :D
I hope you'll like it !

Now on to the nails ! Skittlettes are really becoming something I love a LOT ! It's so easy to imagine and arrange a manicure that way ... This time I went for some bright pink and turquoise. I'm a bit shy when it comes to creating combos with such differents colors, but I think this one worked fine.

I used OPI Koala Bear-y for the thumb and index, China Glaze Snow for the middle and ring, and finally Kiko 637 for the pinky.
Middle and ring fingers were stamped with Flormar 429 and the lovely Nailz Craze plate NC02.

It was my first time wearing a textured polish and I must admit that I actually liked it, I think I'll need more of them ! The only weird thing for me was avoiding top coat on that finger.
I can't wait to go to Kiko and get some more Sugar Mat polishes !

I hope you like it :)

Have a nice day !

Hello !

Perles & Pailletteshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15308418605041015699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5973311931761675738.post-60494310138708404572013-09-09T22:32:00.001+02:002013-09-09T22:32:43.397+02:00About Comments disappearing ... Hi again !

Another update about the blog ... It seems that Intense Debate left me today. I had many, many problems with it recently and I was planning to get rid of it while installing the new blog template, but I noticed today it was already gone.

I probably messed it up while messing the template two days ago, but I definitely can't rely on something that will disappear only for changing a little thing on my template.
I also noticed I had a LOT of comments that where written directly with Blogger's comment system, so that means that Intense Debate doesn't load on your computers and your comments never appear. I can't let this continue, not having your comments published here sounds like a lack of respect from me !
I was so, so disappointed when I noticed that ... Almost 150 comments were lost because of Intense Debate not working properly ! I'm sorry if you were one of those commenters :(

As I planned to use Disqus for the new template, I have already installed it. At the moment, ALL your comments are gone because Disqus is importing them and it may take 24 hours. The good news is tht Disqus can actually import comments from both Blogger and Intense Debate, so when everything is done, the lost comments will be back, too!
And you can already comment on the recent posts.

If you're new to Disqus, you can simply post a comment as a guest by leaving a name and email. You can also create a Disqus account that will be available for any blog using Disqus commenting system. Or if you don't want to subscribe to Disqus, you can also a social media account like Facebook, Twitter or Google+ !

I hope this will work better than Intense Debate. If you have any issue with Disqus or need some help, feel free to send me an email: gwenvn(at)hotmail(dot)be !

Have a nice day :)

Re-bonjour !

Petite mise à jour à propos du blog ... Apparemment, Intense Debate a décidé de me lâcher.

So, I finally tried my Enas plates ! I had them for a while but didn't use them until now.
If you don't know about that stmping system, I invite you to check this page so you can get familiar with the system. The rubber stamp allows you to remove some parts of the design, add different colors etc. It lets the polish dry slower than usual Konad-like plates so you can play with it easily.

For my first try, I went with something simple, with only one color. At first, I used my recent Konad polish but it wasn't thick enough and my design was sheer (though my black Konad polish works very well with classical plates).
So I picked my old black Konad polish, which is so thick I can't use it anymore with plates. It worked very well with the Enas system.

Here are my pics, I'm not very proud of the result ! My middle finger is such a mess ! That happened because my hand shook when I applied the stamp. I think I need to get used to the Enas system !
I started with a gradient combo that I love, using Essence Fruit Punch and Gabriella. Then I stamped the stripes and waited almost an hour to add top coat. The stamping is so thick, I was afraid the design would smudge if it wasn't dry enough !

I can't say I'm really convinced with that stamping system. Sure I have to work my method and get used to it, but I feel like using way much more polish than with classical plates ! You have to cover the entire design with polish where, with normal plates, you can simply put a few polish on the border of the pattern then scrape to fill de design with polish.
And, as you have to stamp on paper to remove the excess polish, you definitely lose it.

I'll definitely try them again, and play with multiple colour patterns as that's what they're meant to be used for, but I'll probably never like them as much as Konad-like plates :)

Have you ever tried these rubber plates ? What do you think of them ?

Have a nice day :)
Hello !

This is just a quick post to tell you that I'm sorry for what happened to my blog design lately !

I've been playing with my new template project yesterday. I have a test blog on my Blogger account for that and I was pretty sure that I was working on that test blog.
And today I noticed my real blog was a big mess, with one of the default Blogger template which was really too narrow for my header and no configuration ...

Of course I had a backup of my template, but for some reason Blogger doesn't let me upload it. So I had to use a previous version, which you actually see.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience ! I hope it didn't stop you from visiting and reading the posts :)

Have a nice day :)
Hello !

Hi dear readers !

September is already here, so it's time for a new Monthly Collage ! So here's my totally unproductive collage for august :D

The good news are my inspiration coming back and having some new ideas for the blog !

I plan on changing the design and adding some new features, themed posts ... I still need some time to prepare all of it (and maybe order a personnalized template if I can't achieve what I want by myself lol) but expect some change for this autumn !

While I'm talking about that, are there any feature that you would love to see here ? I plan to make a big poll about that, but if you have any thoughts and ideas now, they are welcome :)

Well, that being said, which manis did you love last month ?

I especially loved my Porcelain Skittlette, and I was very glad to try and review the OMG Nails Strips ! What about you ? :)

Have a nice day !

Hello !

As I told you some days ago, I had the opportunity to try some strips from OMG Nail Strips, so it's time to review them :)

To be honest, I'm not very enthousiastic when it come to nail strips. Most of them are expensive, and the one I tried were so uncomfortable that I didn't buy any other nail strips since then.
But OMG Nail Strips could have change my mind ... ;)

I was asked to chose one design from their website, so I got some colorful flowers that are totally me ;)
A few days later, the strips were in my mailbox, that was very quick !
Here's what they look like:

Each package contains 14 nail strips with different width, so you can chose the ones that fit your nails the best.
They were a bit too large for my nail beds so I had to trim some of them, but that was really easy ! I simply applied the strips and cut the excess with a cuticle nipper. To me it was even more easy than trimming the strips before applying them (btw, you could actually trim them before if you feel more comfy that way)

To apply the strips, you have to remove the clear protective film, then peel the strip from its backing, stick it on the nail and file the excess.
The strips were very thin, much thinner than previous strips I tried (those from Essence) but they didn't look fragile at all, which I appreciated. All of that made the application really easy and I didn't have any problem like air bubbles or the strip folding. They fit my nails easily and quickly :)

The application instructions on OMG website say to apply some acetone with a cotton ball to make the strip melt to your nails. I did that, but didn't notice a great difference. I must say I didn't press the cotton ball too much, as I was afraid to ruin my strips !

It also says to add a top coat, which I always do with strips. I just can't help doing that :)
I didn't use my usual Seche Vite as it is meant to be used on wet nail polish, I was afraid that using it on something dry would ruin it. So I went for Essence Better Than Gel top coat, which I rarely use because it doesn't dry fast enough for me, but it was glossy enough and protective.

Here's the final result !

Don't they look good ? The pattern is bright and well made, the final result looks really good and the places were I had to trim the width are almost invisible :)

Now what I guess you expect the most ... How long did they last ?

I kept those for two complete weeks (which is a kind of torture for me as I like to change my polish every two or three days, but I wanted to do a complete review haha).
During those weeks, I lived normally and tried not to care about my nail strips: I typed intensively (in a gaming mode lol), cleaned the house, washed the dishes and even the car, did some gardening (with gloves), took showers and baths ... The only cares I did to my nails was hydrating lotion and some cuticle oil from time to time.

As you can see on this picture taken right before I removed the strips, there is some very slight tip wear. My index peeled a bit more but it's all my fault, I scraped a corner as I always do (a king of nervous tic I guess).
I could have easily kept them for a few days more, but the gap between the cuticle and strip was becoming too big imo, and I really needed to change my nails :D

The removal was easy, I simply peeled the strips gently and it didn't harm my nails or make them peel. I think you can also remove them with some acetone, like your usual nail polish.

Overall, I was very satisfied with those nail strips and I'd recommand them !
I even think of buying some and wear them next time I'm on holiday, as they stay very well on the nails they would me more easy to deal with than nail polish ! (especially when travelling by plane when you can bring a very small amount of liquid products with you).
I kept the leftovers in their package and I guess I will use them later for an accent nail, or even try to cut small pieces of them for a nail art.

Now on the practical information !

Each package costs 6.89$ and comes with two sheets of 7 strips

Hello !

I'm really sorry for the lack of posts. To be honest, I haven't really been into blogging lately.
I don't want to put my blog on hiatus or close it, I still love nail art and wouldn't stop for anything, but I have other things in my mind at the moment and I need to take some kind of break, which involves less posts.

I hope you'll understand that, and be sure that I'll be back as soon as possible :)
Next week you'll see a review of some amazing nail strips, I can tell you I've been wearing them for more than a week now and they still look perfect !

But for today, let me show you some classic striping tape manicure :)
I used China Glaze Hi Tek for the base, added some striping tape vertically and painted my nails with two shades of pink: P2 Heartbeat is on the left half of each nail, and China Glaze Something Sweet is on the right half.
I was sad to discover that my pics didn't really show the different shades of pink, it was really obvious in real life !

This manicure was inspired by a lovely design made by Nailside, but where she freehanded the gold stripes, I prefered to use tape. I could never do such perfect stripes as hers with a thin brush haha :D

I hope you like it :)

Have a nice day !

Hello !

Perles & Pailletteshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15308418605041015699noreply@blogger.com0
