Guest Post: Simona

Hi dear readers !

Here we are, february is already ending (time goes by so fast!) and I have the last Guest Post scheduled for you today !

Please welcome Simona, a polish addict from Italia ! As I was reading her blog, I noticed we have some things in common as our age, our love for cats and also for scrapbooking (even if I don't do anymore ... I'd like to give it another try !)
She also loves holographic polishes (who doesn't ?) and chose this very pretty blue to show us today :)

Hi everyone and thank you so much Gwenn for having me here! I still can’t believe I am writing a post here!

Sooo without further ado I decided to show you all an Italian beauty which is soon reaching the United States, and I hope the rest of Europe, too! This is Layla Ocean Rush, from the new Hologram Effect gamma by Layla.
Layla is an Italian high end brand for those who don’t know and they are coming out with some pretty amazing stuff lately! Their holos are among the best currently available in the nail polish world but probably the most expensive, too! This gamma has 8 colours and today I picked n. 7 which is a wonderful bright blue. Let’s the pics do the talking, shall we?

The following are 2 coats with a transparent polish on top instead of top coat. Unfortunately the wintery Italian sun doesn’t translate the wonderful rainbow in this holo, but believe me, it’s there and it’s strong!

This last pic was taken in the sun, too, but it is what this polish looks indoors as well, look at its beauty!
Layla polishes can be bought online at Layla Cosmetics and they ship worldwide.

Thank you Gwenn for having me here, I know you’ll love this holo!

Wow, what a true beauty ! Thank you Simona :D
I feel like I'll never get bored by holo polishes ... They can be linear, scattered, or only have a few holo glitters, I love them all :D

Please visit Simona's blog here:

And if you are interested or curious about digital scrapbooking, you can also visit her other blog :
She does scrapbooking in the style I love a lot ^^

Well, that's all for today, I hope you enjoyed those Guest Post series, maybe I'll do it again in a few months :)

Have a nice day :)

Blue Gradient with Stamping

Hi dear readers !

I hope you had a great weekend ! I rested a lot, but also went to France to get some Kiko polish ! I got some from the new Magnetic collection, and two crackles. Can't wait to try the magnetic ones !

I know today is meant to be the day for the stamping challenge on Adventures in Stamping, but I didn't have time this week to complete the 3-colours manicure :(
Instead, I have this stamping I did a couple of weeks ago and loved a lot ! It looks like a 3 colours manicure at first sight but I think I used too much polish to enter the challenge lol ;)

This is how I proceeded:
- Base coat
- Two coats of Essence My Boyfriend's Jeans
- Essence Forever Mine sponged diagonally on 3/4 of the nail
- OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui sponged on 1/2 of the nail
- OPI What's with the Cattitude sponged on 1/4 of the nail
- China Glaze Snow sponged on tips
- a bit of China Glaze Dorothy Who ? sponged near the cuticle
- one coat of Seche Vite to smooth the surface
- pattern from Konad plate m83 stamped with black special polish
- one coat of Seche Vite

That was a lot of polish, but not too hard to do, and sponging dries fast so you can work your coats quickly :)

Do you like it ?

Have a nice day :)

Guest Post: Jen

Hi dear readers !

Let's continue the February Guest Posts ! Today I'm welcoming Jen from Jen's Wonderland :)
And she decided to show you some great holo-goodness ... I love that polis soooooo much !
Ludurana is a Brasilian brand I'd really like to get, especially their Aurora Borealis collection ... Let's what Notavel looks like !
This post is picture heavy... But let's be honest, we never have too much holo, right ? ;)

I was very excited when Gwenn asked if I wanted to guest post! I asked her what she would like to see, and she said she loves glitter and holos. Well I decided to show you all a very pretty gray holographic, "Notavel".  This is from a Brazilian brand, Ludurana. I purchased this polish from http://shop.llarowe.com/main.sc. Leah Ann stocks a lot of great polishes, check her out. You won't be disappointed.

I applied 2 coats, finished off with a layer of top coat and some cuticle oil.

Thank you Gwenn for having me!

Xoxo,
Jen

Wooow ... I can't stop staring at those pics. that polish is very pretty, thanks Jen for swatching it for us !
As Jen is a holographic polish lover, you'll find even more pretty shades on her blog, along with nail art and other pretty swatches !
Please visit her :)

Have a nice day :)

Sunday Stamping Challenge: Ending with a 3 !

Hi dear readers :)

I hope you're fine :)
Yesterday I posted my Konadicure for Adventures in Stamping on Facebook. This week's challenge was to use a plate ending with a 3. I just ordered a plate from BornPrettyStore, Faux-nad m73 ! That was a great occasion to try it out :)

I used Essence Thelma (from the Twins set Thelma & Louise) as the base and stamped with m73 and Nfu Oh 63. That was my first holo stamping and OOOOOH I loved it a lot !! Just look at the holo reflects ...
Thelma looks black on my pics (it's dark purple in real life) but who cares ? The holo madness os the only thing that counts, no ? :D

Please let me introduce you someone you rarely see here, my right thumb ! The holo on this pic was so pretty, I had to show it :)
I didn't use any top coat for the pics to preserve the holo effect. I was right, as the next day I added one coat of Seche Vite and the holo was really less present. But still pretty :)

Overall I'm glad with my BPS Fauxnad. I didn't have any problem for that stamping, except for the ring finger that looks a bit smudged but that's my fault, I did it too fast. I'm such an impatient one !
These plates retail for 2.32$ each (I got them on sale for 1.55$). Some designs are not as well engraved as the Konad ones but still usable, I think they're worth the price !

So, what do you think ? Do you like this stamping ? :)

Have a nice day :)

Essence Sugar Tonight & Isadora Graffiti Pink Fame

Hi dear readers !

I don't know if I already mentionned it here, but with my friends, we often go to Germany to track nail polish ! Essence and Catrice are available in Belgium, but we don't have all limited editions and almost no nail art stuff from those brands. Germany is a kind of goldmine for us :D

That's also a good opportunity to get some brands we don't have at all here, like Isadora, BeYu, ... That's how I discovered the crackle top coat I'll introduce you today :)
This is Isadora Graffiti Pink Fame over Essence Sugar Tonight (Re-Mix Your Style LE).
Sugar Tonight is a pale pink with shimmer. Very pretty in the bottle, but horrible on me, it just doesn't suit me at all on it's own !
So I decided to "hide" it with that pretty pink crackle with holo glitters, and I loved the result !

Isn't that Isadora crackle a beauty ? They also have the same kind of holo glitter filled crackle in blue, I can't wait to try it :)

Do you like that simple style ?

Thanks for reading and commenting :)

Have a nice day ^^

Guest Post: Lakeisha

Hi dear readers !

As every wednesday in February on Sweet Sugar, today there's a guest post :)

Please welcome Lakeisha from Refined and Polished ! I've been following her lovely blog for a while, and I especially like her idea to add a picture with some clothes and accessories matching her swatches or nail arts ... I'm not really into fashion but I like to see how she mixes stuff :) That's a cute idea !

Hi Sweet Sugar readers!
I was so excited and almost a little in shock when Gwenn asked me to provide a guest post. I’ve been following this blog for some time, so it’s a big deal to showcase my nails here. Since Valentine’s Day just passed, I wanted to do something soft and girly. Zoya Happi is the epitome of that! Happi is a soft pink that is filled with golden shimmer. The formula was easy to work with and I applied three thin coats for opacity.
The golden shimmer makes Happi amazing. I’m literally smiling as I type this because it’s so pretty!
Now I couldn’t just provide a simple mani when Gwenn is so awesome at nail art. I’ve been in love with striping tape lately, so I added an accent using two coats Zoya Gaia. Gaia, a soft white, compliments Happi so well because it has the same golden shimmer. To tie the colors together, I added several small dots.
I just love how soft and feminine this is! I hope you all enjoyed as well. Many thanks again to Gwenn for allowing me to guest post!

Thank you a lot Lakeisha !
As I already said in Nihrida's guest post, I absolutely love pink shades with gold shimmer, those colors compliment each other so well !
I also love the accent nail, it's soft and cute :) As I have tried tape manicures, I haven't done one with striping tape yet ... I really should try :)

So, did you like it as much as I did ?

Have a nice day :)

Valentine Nails: Garden of Hearts

Hi dear readers !

Tomorrow's Valentine day ... Do you do something special for that occasion ?
My boyfriend and I don't do something special for that day ... Oh we ate a cute little heart-shaped cake saturday but that's all :) I don't really like the commercial part in that celebration ... But isn't it a good reason to make cute nails with hearts ? :p

This is what i did for this week Adventures in Stamping challenge, the theme was obviously Valentine Day :)
To get this result, I first used one coat of Catrice Rock Barock, a sheer nude pink with a very slight shimmer.
Then I sponged from the tips through half of the nail with China Glaze Phat Santa, and sponged again with China Glaze Ruby Pumps, only on the tips for a bling.
Finally I stamped the hearts with Konad plate m83 and special polish in white. Doens't this design look like little flower with hearts on top ?

Unfortunately, the glitter from Ruby Pumps don't show on my pics :( They are more present in real life.

What do you think of my V-day nails ? :)

I plan on doing another V-Day design as I'd like to try an idea I had ... Well, I won't tell more, in case I fail lol ^^

Will you paint your nails with something special for tomorrow ? If so, feel free to add the link in your comments, I'd love to see them :)

Have a nice day ^^

Koh - Blue Universe

Hi dear readers !

How is your weekend ? Mine is fine, I'm starting a big project that will surely take a while ... I have received my nails wheels from BornPrettyStore and I want to swatch all my pretties by color just like Karen from Frazzle & Aniploish did. I hesitated a lot to do it by brand, but sorting them by color talks more to me, and it will help me to avoid dupes as my collection is getting really big ... Perhaps a bit too much ;)
My plan is to swatch my collection, remove the dupes or the colors that look very  bad on me (corals for exemple) and start a blog sale when I'm done :)

Today's polish was a long time lemming of mine ... I wanted Koh Blue Universe as soon as I saw it, almost one year ago. I searched in Belgian shops that sell Koh and also in Douglas stores in the Netherlands, but I never found it, they only had the more classic colors from the brands.
Finally I ordered it on Koh's online store and got my precious !
Blue Universe is a dark blue polish with flakes that change color from green to orange ... How pretty !
As you can see in the pics below, it's also filled with a thin shimmer. Do you understand why I wanted it so bad, now ? ;)

I couldn't resist to add that pic with a cute owl ring I found on Ebay (thanks to Nihrida, as I found it while searching the angel wings ring she has ^^)
So, what do you think of Koh Blue Universe ? I

I love it and I'm glad I finally bought it. The least part of this polish is it's price. 14,95€ (19$) is a bit pricey for a polish imo and I'm not used to spend that much on a polish, except for one Lippmann (the others I own were gifts). I had to be really unique for me to pay this price :)

If you want to know more on how to get Koh polishes, then you can read Witoxicity's Guideline on Where to Buy Koh Nail Polish :)

Have a nice day :)

Guest Post: Very Emily

Hi dear readers !

Are you ready for another guest post ?
This week I'm glad to welcome Emily from the blog Very Emily ! When I discovered her blog, I immediatl loved her style. She does a lot of freehand with inpiration from flowers, cloth prints, nature ... But my fave style from her are those cute vintage flowers she does so well ... And guess what ? That's what she does for her guest post, she even made it to match my blog color scheme :)

Hello Gwenn's lovely readers!

When Gwenn asked me guest post for her I felt so honoured and excited! I immediately thought of doing something inspired by her blog's colour scheme. I ended up doing flowers since Gwenn mentioned she liked my floral prints so this is what I came up with!
I really love doing flowers, they always look really pretty but are very easy to create. I used thin nail art brushes and stripers.

And the polishes I used were:
Barry M Berry Ice Cream
Barry M Bright Purple
China Glaze VIII
China Glaze Electric Pineapple
China Glaze Starboard
Models Own Nail Art Pens

I really hope you like them! I also would like to thank Gwenn for this amazing opportunity, I had so much fun creating these and I was really happy that you asked me to do a guest post. Thank you so much!

Thank you Emily !
Aren't these vintage flowers too cute ? I just love everything about them :) I'd like to learn to create them but my tries were unsuccessful for the moment ^^
Emily's blog talks about nail polish and nail art but not only ! You'll also find make up, reviews, great pictures ... She also makes a lot of reviews for Born Pretty Store and shares nice advices !
Did I mention she's from Belgium, like me ? We can moan together about belgian shops that don't have the same stuff than in Germany or Netherlands and our difficulties to find certain brands, lol ;)

Please visit Emily's blog here: http://www.emilydenisephotography.com/blog/
You'll even find tutorials to create cute flowers !

I hope you liked her guest post as much as I did :)

Have a nice day !

Blue Stamping with Nfu Oh 65

Hi dear readers :)

Did you notice the new Pin It button at the end of each post ? If you're a Pinterest user, you can now pin my pictures directly from there :) If you're not on Pinterest but want to, let me know in the comments, I'll send you an invite ;)

On to today's nails ! I recently found back my love for stamping. I had hard times doing something right with my stamps but now it seems to go better so I have a lot of fun lately, and I also joinded a Facebook group called Adventures in Stamping ! In this group, you can obviously talk about stamping, share your pics and ask for help, but there is also a weekly themed challenge, and each sunday we post our manicures for the challenge :)

Last week's theme was "All Blue" so here's what I did ...
I used Nfu Oh 63 as the base and stamped using Bundle Monster plate 208 and Konad Special Polish in blue.

I love Nfu Oh 63 a lot ! It's much more holo in real but there was no sun when I took the pics so I couldn't get better reflects ... I have to wear this again this spring to see you all the linear holo prettyness in it :)

So, what do you think of my blue Konadicure ?
Be sure to see more stamping in the next posts :)

Have a nice day :)

Layering experiment with Beyu 209

Hi again dear readers :)

When I first read about Beyu 209 being a possible dupe for Unicorn pee aka Clarins 230, I totally wanted it. Clarins 230 is impossible to find in my country, and I don't want to pay totally crazy prices for it on Ebay (the cheapest I found today is sold 70$ ...)

So, on my summer trip to Barcelona, I found it at Douglas (we either don't have Douglas in Belgium) and jumped immediatly on it !
For my first use, I wanted to imitate a look I already seen and love, the great layering Jeanette did for her guest post on Also Knows As !
For this layering, here's what I used ...
- base coat (Gosh base & Top Coat)
- Essence Out of my Mind (2 coats)
- Nfu Oh 54 (1 coat but not really visible on the pics)
- China Glaze Glam (1 coat)
- Beyu 209 (2 coats)
- Seche Vite

That's a total of eight coats of polish lol ... My nails were so thick after all that !

I especially love how the glitters look ! Beyu 209 is a magical shade :)
Now, be ready for some picture spam :p

I took m pics with different lights so you can see all the reflects in it ... If you can get your hands on it, don't hesitate, and buy two bottles of it !
It actually costs around 6€ at Douglas stores and last time I went to Germany, it was still available.

Note that there are two versions of it, and one has not all that magical stuff in it. So be sure to read Jeanette's post about it to know which one to buy :)

Do you like it ?

Oh, this morning I've noticed I reached 1k followers on GFC ... Thank you all, my fellow readers :D
Of course, I'll have a giveaway to celebrate it ... But i'm waiting for some novelty from Catrice and Essence for the prize :D

Have a nice day :)

January Collage

Hi dear readers !

I hope you're fine :)
As we thought there wouldn't be a real winter here in Belgium this year, is started to get really cold this week and yesterday we had a lot of snow ... It took me almost 3 hours to drive 50 km ... Now I hope it will melt before I got back to work. Snow is beautiful, but it's soooo annoying to drive in it !

I started to see those pretty little collages on a few blogs lately, and I really loved the idea, so I decided to start mine, too :)
Here's the collage for last month ... I hope you'll like it ^^

If you want to get yours, just go to http://www.shapecollage.com and chose the Online version in the products ... They also have an iPhone app and a Facebook version.

For iPhone freaks like me, I also discovered a nice app called My365 which allows you to post daily pictures and keep a record for each day in the year ... I love the idea and the app is cute :) You'll see some notd's of course, and random pictures of my cats, hauls, travels ... My username there is Gwenn.

Stay tuned, I'll come back later with some nail polish :)

Guest post: Nihrida

Hi dear readers !

Last sunday, I told there will be a guest post ... Well in fact, there will be guest posts each wednesday in February ! I have contacted five nail addicts who accepted to write a little something for me ... Isn't it great ?

For the first guest post, please welcome Nihrida !
Do I really have to introduce her ? She's a great blogger from Slovenia, and she is one of the first person I followed two years ago when I started my polish madness :)

Here's what she's done for me:

Hi everyone, it's Nihrida!

Don't worry, I'm not here to stay. ;) Lovely Gwenn asked me to do a guest post
for Sweet Sugar and since I love her blog, I decided to give it a go. After she contacted me my
first thought was: what to write about? A simple 'one polish' manicure wouldn't be in order (in
my opinion), so I went for a layering combo. Hope you like it!
I've always been quite intrigued by the China Glaze Strawberry Fields craze. It got to me
as well and I'm not even a pink lover. Having said that, Strawberry Fields was my main
inspiration for this layering. I used 2 coats of Essence nail polish from the Crazy About Color
trend edition in Think Pink and 2 coats of Alessandro nail polish #907.

It's sunny here in Slovenia and I took advantage of our nice January weather. This manicure
looks way better in natural lighting anyway.

So, what do you think?

Thanks for having me as your guest, Gwenn!

Wow, thank you Sasha ! Your manicure is lovely !
I'm a complete fan of Strawberry Fields or Ahoy, so how could I not love her layering ?
Now I have to try layering my CND 24k Gold Sparkle over a bright pink to get a similar result :p

Did you like the first Guest Post ? :)

Please check Nihrida's blog if you don't know it yet ... She has great pictures, nice non-polish related posts (I love the jewelry she buys and shows !) and also cute kitties ! lol :D

Have a nice day ;)
