Guest Post: Missy from Gnarly Gnails !

Hi dear readers !

So, this will be the last guest post (but not the last interview) for this month !

Please welcome Missy from Gnarly Gnails :)

Hello! My name is Missy from Gnarly Gnails.

It is my pleasure today to be able to do a Guest Post here on Gwenn's blog. I have been following Sweet Sugar for awhile, almost since I first began my journey into polish addiction. It was a huge pleasure and honor to be asked to do this, I hope I do Gwenn and all of you lovely readers justice with it!

So today's post is based off of a gradient I did awhile back, along with a subsequent video tutorial (which can be found in my tutorials section of my blog) - it features A England Saint George and Catrice Dirty Berry holographic polishes. I added some stamping in both colors and then topped those stampings with one main white focal stamping. I wanted to make it tattoo themed, so I went with Sparrows and the usual gangsta style stuff!

The plates I used were various cheeky, bundle monster, mash and konad plates I have. I'm so bad at looking at them and noting them for my blog posts! But you can always ask me if you really do want to know! Stamping was done with Konad Special White polish.

Thanks for having me!!!

Thank you a lot Missy ! This is a lovely one, I love everyting tattoo related and before I read your text, I thought of some old school style tattoos ;) I especially like the sparrows !

Do you like it ?

Have a nice day :)

Guest Post: Jenni from Gold Speck Nails

Hi dear readers :)

It's time for a new guest post, and today we welcome Jenni from Gold Speck Nails !

Hi Sweet Sugar readers!

I’m Jenni from Gold Speck Nails. When Gwenn asked me to be a guest poster here for while she’s on holiday I was more than happy to accept. I love Gwenn’s blog, she is so talented!
For today's mani I wanted to try something new. So I started with a white base than dabbed on colours and used a large brush and acetone to create a watercolour effect. Then I stamped with my Dashica Big SpD-A plate with Konad Special Polish in White. It's quite hard to see that stamp in real life, they kind of just look like a random multi coloured pattern instead of flowers. But I still like the effect.

Here's what I used:
Base Coat: La Femme
Base Colour: Rimmel - White
Other Colours: Models Own - Slate Green
Deborah - Turquoise Fever
Kiko - 356 - Melon
Essence - Colour3 - Shopping Trip In Soho
Barry M - Berry Ice Cream
Stamping Colour: Konad Special White
Image Plate: Dashica Big SpD-A
Top Coat: Rimmel - 60 Seconds Clear

For the last photo I added a coat of Rimmel – Matte Finish top coat :]

Wow that was a big list! I hope you like it! & Gwenn, thank you so much for having me, and I hope you're having a good holiday! :]

Thank you a lot Jenni ! Wow I absolutely love that look, and the pattern you used for stamping. I love hibiscus flowers ! I need that plate ;)

Do you like it ?

Have a nice day :)

Hello :)

Base: La Femme
Couleur de base: Rimmel - White
Autres couleurs: Models Own - Slate Green
Deborah - Turquoise Fever
Kiko - 356 - Melon
Essence - Colour3 - Shopping Trip In Soho
Barry M - Berry Ice Cream
Stamping: Konad Special White
Image Plate: Dashica Big SpD-A
Top Coat: Rimmel - 60 Seconds Clear

Guest Post: Katy from Nailed It !

Hi dear readers !

Today I'm glad to welcome another blogger I admire for a guest post ! This is Katy from Nailed It ! I'm sure you already know her, but if you don't, go check her blog !

Gwenn: "I wanted to know if you'd be interested in writing a post for me."

Me: "That sounds like fun!"

Me (to myself): "You must...do...pink!"

Gwenn's gorgeous blog is called Sweet Sugar, and the designs it puts out are not only sweet to look at, but the overall feel of the blog is very feminine. Lots of pinks. So I decided to put pink to the test in my guest post for Gwenn.

Fun right? Let me walk you through what I did so you can give it a shot yourself.

First, paint your nail white. I used My Boyfriend Scales Walls (OPI).

Then, tape both side of your nail so only the middle is left exposed. Now stamp your favorite design on the exposed area. I chose to stamp with Dutch Tulips (OPI) using BM-20, one of the original Bundle Monster with the nail designs that don't fit your entire nail.

Now carefully peel off the tape. You'll be left with a design right down the middle of your fingers. Paint the edges of that design with solid, black lines. (I used Color Madric's Black.)

Finally, freehand the pink on the outer edges of each nail using a small striping brush. I chose Steady As She Rose (OPI) to do this step.

Does it still look bumpy to you? Add a topcoat to smooth everything out, and you're good to go. Unless you used a non quick-dry topcoat. In which case you'll have to carefully not use your hands until the next decade rolls around. Quick dry topcoats are the absolute best.

I want to thank Gwenn and her lovely readers for sharing this post with me and enjoying it hopefully as much as I did.

Feel free to check out more of my designs at Nailed It.

Thank you a lot, Katy ! This is a gorgeous design, and a good idea to use those patterns that don't suit the whole nail ...

Do you like it ?

Have a nice day :)

Moi: "Ca me semble sympa!"

J'ai utilisé My Boyfriend Scales Walls (OPI).

J'ai choici Steady As She Rose (OPI) pour cette étape.

Guest Post: Kirsten from Geeky Owl !

Hi dear readers !

It's time for another guest post, this time it's Kirsten from Geeky Owl's turn :)

Hello Sweet Sugar readers!

My name is Kirsten and I have a blog over at Geeky Owl. I've gotten to know Gwenn through different facebook groups and we also play Draw Something against each other! :) So I had an idea for a mani using the new Bundle Monster set but as those are being used a lot right now I thought I would take it back to the stamping roots, cleanse the pallet so to say, and use a good ol' fashioned Konad plate! :)

So here is what I came up with, I hope you like it! I decided to be a bit girly!

The top image is more true to color but this polish loves to photograph a bit purple sometimes. But the polish I used is one of my go-to polishes: Essence Romeo from the Nail Art Twins line. I love this polish! It is a great one coat creme that never fails! I used Konad black and the plate Konad M56. I added some random little rhinestones (well, not so little once actually on the nail!) by applying a dot of clear polish to adhere the stone.
Here is an unadorned shot of Essence Romeo in all it's glory. Seriously, I love this color and polish!

Thank you for reading my guest post and I hope you liked the girly mani I created for you all!

Thank you, Kirsten ! I love this classy combo, I wish I had that plate :)
I was surprised  to see that her Romeo is a creme polish, mine is a metallic grey ! I guess mine is an older version, from the first Twins release.

So, what do you think ? :)

Have a nice day :)

Bonne journée :)

Guest Post: Debbie Crumpet

Hi dear readers :)

Please welcome Debbie from The Crumpet for today's post :D

Hi Goddesses

Thanks to Gwenn for letting her blog be Crumpeted today!

If there's one mani that never gets old for me, it's the Leopard print mani. Every time another blogger posts a neon version, a real toned version or an outrageously coloured one, I go all weak and wobbly inside.

I don't do them very often myself though, and I think that's just a symptom of having too many ideas, or too many other posts I want to do, so here, just for you, Gwenn's readers, are my very own Leopard Print nails.

This has a base of 3 coats of Cult Nails Untamed from their new collection. It's a lovely sugary, bubblegum pink, sprinkled with shimmer. It's so girly it hurts.

I then used a medium sized dotter to drag some silver spots onto the nail using OPI DS Coronation. The trick is to try to get them looking as non-uniform as possible.

And finally, using Orly Charged Up, I used my thinnest dotting tool to drag an outline around most (but not all) of the shape. Note that the key word here is DRAG. Dragging the polish with a dotting tool creates an irregular pattern that's really suited to this design.

This pattern is so simple yet so effective - it always looks stunning and dramatic, yet also relatively easy to do.

And there you have it - enjoy :) xx

Thank you a lot Debbie ! For sure, leopard print on nails is something that always work :) I love them ^^

Do you like it ?

Have a nice day :)

Hello !

J'aime beaucoup ceux-ci :)

Et vous, qu'en pensez-vous ?

Bonne journée :)

Guest Post: Lucy from Lucy's Stash !

Hi dear readers :)

As I announced in my latest post, I'm taking some rest this august and some fellow bloggers will take over the blog !

I'm glad to introduce the first blogger for these guess posts, Lucy from Lucy's Stash !

Hi everybody!

My name is Lucy and I’m a blogger from Lucy’s Stash and I blog about nail polishes and nail art. I’ve been asked by lovely Gwenn to write a blog post for her. Since I really like her blog and especially her creative manicures, I said YES!

So for this post I’ve chosen a pink girly ‘dotticure’ that will go nicely with Sweet Sugar’s colour scheme :)

What I’ve used:
China Glaze Dance Baby
Filthy Gorgeous tu-tu much
OPI Pamplona Purple
A England Camelot

For the base colour I’ve used with China Glaze Dance Baby. Then I took the smallest dotting tool I had and started to create half-circle pattern with dots. When the whole nail was covered with dots I sealed the whole manicure with Seche Vite topcoat.

Thank you a lot, Lucy !
That's probably the first dotticure on this blog, didn't we need it ? I should give dots a try :)

I hope you enjoyed it :)

Have a nice day !

China Glaze Dance Baby
Filthy Gorgeous tu-tu much
OPI Pamplona Purple
A England Camelot

If you wish to particpate, it's easy, just answer the  quick questions listed below, and send me a mail with your answers and at least one picture of the manicure that you are proud of. You don't have to have a blog to enter.
If you are a guest blogger for me in august, you can still participate here.

Form is closed, thanks to all of you who sent me their answers and pics !

Here are the questions !

1. Where are you from ?
2. When did your love for polish started, and how ?
3. How many polish do you own ?
4. Who or what inspires you ?
5. What are your favorite nail polish blogs ?
6. Do you have a blog ? Please provide it's url
7. What is your favorite part in blogging ? If you don't have a blog, what stops you from making your own ?
8. Funny and non-polish related question, are you a cat or a dog person ? :D
Finally, show us your best manicure work !

I hope you'll enter this special post series, and you'll like it :)

Guest Post: Simona

Hi dear readers !

Here we are, february is already ending (time goes by so fast!) and I have the last Guest Post scheduled for you today !

Please welcome Simona, a polish addict from Italia ! As I was reading her blog, I noticed we have some things in common as our age, our love for cats and also for scrapbooking (even if I don't do anymore ... I'd like to give it another try !)
She also loves holographic polishes (who doesn't ?) and chose this very pretty blue to show us today :)

Hi everyone and thank you so much Gwenn for having me here! I still can’t believe I am writing a post here!

Sooo without further ado I decided to show you all an Italian beauty which is soon reaching the United States, and I hope the rest of Europe, too! This is Layla Ocean Rush, from the new Hologram Effect gamma by Layla.
Layla is an Italian high end brand for those who don’t know and they are coming out with some pretty amazing stuff lately! Their holos are among the best currently available in the nail polish world but probably the most expensive, too! This gamma has 8 colours and today I picked n. 7 which is a wonderful bright blue. Let’s the pics do the talking, shall we?

The following are 2 coats with a transparent polish on top instead of top coat. Unfortunately the wintery Italian sun doesn’t translate the wonderful rainbow in this holo, but believe me, it’s there and it’s strong!

This last pic was taken in the sun, too, but it is what this polish looks indoors as well, look at its beauty!
Layla polishes can be bought online at Layla Cosmetics and they ship worldwide.

Thank you Gwenn for having me here, I know you’ll love this holo!

Wow, what a true beauty ! Thank you Simona :D
I feel like I'll never get bored by holo polishes ... They can be linear, scattered, or only have a few holo glitters, I love them all :D

Please visit Simona's blog here:

And if you are interested or curious about digital scrapbooking, you can also visit her other blog :
She does scrapbooking in the style I love a lot ^^

Well, that's all for today, I hope you enjoyed those Guest Post series, maybe I'll do it again in a few months :)

Have a nice day :)

Guest Post: Jen

Hi dear readers !

Let's continue the February Guest Posts ! Today I'm welcoming Jen from Jen's Wonderland :)
And she decided to show you some great holo-goodness ... I love that polis soooooo much !
Ludurana is a Brasilian brand I'd really like to get, especially their Aurora Borealis collection ... Let's what Notavel looks like !
This post is picture heavy... But let's be honest, we never have too much holo, right ? ;)

I was very excited when Gwenn asked if I wanted to guest post! I asked her what she would like to see, and she said she loves glitter and holos. Well I decided to show you all a very pretty gray holographic, "Notavel".  This is from a Brazilian brand, Ludurana. I purchased this polish from http://shop.llarowe.com/main.sc. Leah Ann stocks a lot of great polishes, check her out. You won't be disappointed.

I applied 2 coats, finished off with a layer of top coat and some cuticle oil.

Thank you Gwenn for having me!

Xoxo,
Jen

Wooow ... I can't stop staring at those pics. that polish is very pretty, thanks Jen for swatching it for us !
As Jen is a holographic polish lover, you'll find even more pretty shades on her blog, along with nail art and other pretty swatches !
Please visit her :)

Have a nice day :)

Guest Post: Lakeisha

Hi dear readers !

As every wednesday in February on Sweet Sugar, today there's a guest post :)

Please welcome Lakeisha from Refined and Polished ! I've been following her lovely blog for a while, and I especially like her idea to add a picture with some clothes and accessories matching her swatches or nail arts ... I'm not really into fashion but I like to see how she mixes stuff :) That's a cute idea !

Hi Sweet Sugar readers!
I was so excited and almost a little in shock when Gwenn asked me to provide a guest post. I’ve been following this blog for some time, so it’s a big deal to showcase my nails here. Since Valentine’s Day just passed, I wanted to do something soft and girly. Zoya Happi is the epitome of that! Happi is a soft pink that is filled with golden shimmer. The formula was easy to work with and I applied three thin coats for opacity.
The golden shimmer makes Happi amazing. I’m literally smiling as I type this because it’s so pretty!
Now I couldn’t just provide a simple mani when Gwenn is so awesome at nail art. I’ve been in love with striping tape lately, so I added an accent using two coats Zoya Gaia. Gaia, a soft white, compliments Happi so well because it has the same golden shimmer. To tie the colors together, I added several small dots.
I just love how soft and feminine this is! I hope you all enjoyed as well. Many thanks again to Gwenn for allowing me to guest post!

Thank you a lot Lakeisha !
As I already said in Nihrida's guest post, I absolutely love pink shades with gold shimmer, those colors compliment each other so well !
I also love the accent nail, it's soft and cute :) As I have tried tape manicures, I haven't done one with striping tape yet ... I really should try :)

So, did you like it as much as I did ?

Have a nice day :)

Guest Post: Very Emily

Hi dear readers !

Are you ready for another guest post ?
This week I'm glad to welcome Emily from the blog Very Emily ! When I discovered her blog, I immediatl loved her style. She does a lot of freehand with inpiration from flowers, cloth prints, nature ... But my fave style from her are those cute vintage flowers she does so well ... And guess what ? That's what she does for her guest post, she even made it to match my blog color scheme :)

Hello Gwenn's lovely readers!

When Gwenn asked me guest post for her I felt so honoured and excited! I immediately thought of doing something inspired by her blog's colour scheme. I ended up doing flowers since Gwenn mentioned she liked my floral prints so this is what I came up with!
I really love doing flowers, they always look really pretty but are very easy to create. I used thin nail art brushes and stripers.

And the polishes I used were:
Barry M Berry Ice Cream
Barry M Bright Purple
China Glaze VIII
China Glaze Electric Pineapple
China Glaze Starboard
Models Own Nail Art Pens

I really hope you like them! I also would like to thank Gwenn for this amazing opportunity, I had so much fun creating these and I was really happy that you asked me to do a guest post. Thank you so much!

Thank you Emily !
Aren't these vintage flowers too cute ? I just love everything about them :) I'd like to learn to create them but my tries were unsuccessful for the moment ^^
Emily's blog talks about nail polish and nail art but not only ! You'll also find make up, reviews, great pictures ... She also makes a lot of reviews for Born Pretty Store and shares nice advices !
Did I mention she's from Belgium, like me ? We can moan together about belgian shops that don't have the same stuff than in Germany or Netherlands and our difficulties to find certain brands, lol ;)

Please visit Emily's blog here: http://www.emilydenisephotography.com/blog/
You'll even find tutorials to create cute flowers !

I hope you liked her guest post as much as I did :)

Have a nice day !

Guest post: Nihrida

Hi dear readers !

Last sunday, I told there will be a guest post ... Well in fact, there will be guest posts each wednesday in February ! I have contacted five nail addicts who accepted to write a little something for me ... Isn't it great ?

For the first guest post, please welcome Nihrida !
Do I really have to introduce her ? She's a great blogger from Slovenia, and she is one of the first person I followed two years ago when I started my polish madness :)

Here's what she's done for me:

Hi everyone, it's Nihrida!

Don't worry, I'm not here to stay. ;) Lovely Gwenn asked me to do a guest post
for Sweet Sugar and since I love her blog, I decided to give it a go. After she contacted me my
first thought was: what to write about? A simple 'one polish' manicure wouldn't be in order (in
my opinion), so I went for a layering combo. Hope you like it!
I've always been quite intrigued by the China Glaze Strawberry Fields craze. It got to me
as well and I'm not even a pink lover. Having said that, Strawberry Fields was my main
inspiration for this layering. I used 2 coats of Essence nail polish from the Crazy About Color
trend edition in Think Pink and 2 coats of Alessandro nail polish #907.

It's sunny here in Slovenia and I took advantage of our nice January weather. This manicure
looks way better in natural lighting anyway.

So, what do you think?

Thanks for having me as your guest, Gwenn!

Wow, thank you Sasha ! Your manicure is lovely !
I'm a complete fan of Strawberry Fields or Ahoy, so how could I not love her layering ?
Now I have to try layering my CND 24k Gold Sparkle over a bright pink to get a similar result :p

Did you like the first Guest Post ? :)

Please check Nihrida's blog if you don't know it yet ... She has great pictures, nice non-polish related posts (I love the jewelry she buys and shows !) and also cute kitties ! lol :D

Have a nice day ;)
