Fake Tattoos Review - Navy Nails

Hi dear readers !

Here's the last manicure I did with the nail tattoos I was sent for review by the Swedish company Fake Tattoos :)
Be sure to see more of these in the coming months as I still have a lot of designs to try out, but after spending a complete week using tattoos on my nails, I wanted some change ;)

So for today, I used the anchor design. That's not something that inspires me to be honest, but I never did a navy themed manicure before, so that was a good occasion to start it.
I went with a simple design and the usual navy colors: blue, white, red and stripes !

Now before you see the pics, I have to warn you, this is the WORST tape manicure job I've ever done. Even my first try was better. My blue polish was a bit runny, it went under the tape and litteraly flooded my cuticles ! I had to touch up every single stripe with a brush and white polish, I also had a very hard ob cleaning my cuticles haha !
With all I had to clean and touch up, please consider this manicure as a freehand work. It's almost that xD

Overall it's not too bad, finally ... It's just NOT straight :s
I painted all my nails except thumb and ring finger with China Glaze Snow. Once dry, I used some tape to create stripes and painted with Kiko 335.
My thumbs and ring fingers were painted in red with Essence Applause, Applause and I added the anchor designs on these :)

Still no bad surprise with the tattoos, they applied easily and smoothly. I really don't have anything bad to say about these :)

For a more complete review of the Fake Tattoos, you can check my previous post !
For more information about these funny decals, please check their website or Facebook page:

So, what do you think of this mani ? Do you like it ?
With all the mess I met with these nails, and considering I'm not a fan of navy themed stuff, I can't really say I liked it haha :)

Have a nice day :)

Hello !

Christmas Sandwich

Hi dear readers !

Well, Christmas is gone now, but I still had this manicure I did for that day and didn't show you yet :)

At first, I wanted to do a glitter gradient starting from the cuticles with a method I never tried before. It's that method where you put some glitters near the cuticle line then drag them to create the gradient. I don't know if I did something wrong or if I just need more training, but I wasn't pleased with the result. Too much red glitters packed in some spots !

Anyway, here it is ...

I used Essie Marshmallow as the base and China Glaze Hearty Party for the glitters, I saw this combo on many blogs and I think they look really good together.
But Marshmallow is soooo sheer, after 3 coats I still could see my nail line and I hate that :(

I was in a hurry and didn't want to remove the complete many so I tried something else ...
I covered my whole nails with Party Hearty. Pretty, but not so original ...

I needed something else ! and so, I sandwiched :)

Oh, I prefer it this way ! I always love that milky look with Marshmallow used for the sandwich :)

I hope you like it, too ;)

Have a nice day !

Hello !

Summer Citrus Stamping & BPS review !

Hi dear readers !

It's time for a new review from Born Pretty Store ! I really love that shop, they have tons of nail art stuff for low prices but great quality, I've never been disappointed with their items !
They also started some time ago to sell other items like smartphone and pads covers, toys, hair accessories, make up ... Visit them, I'm sure you'll find something to please you :)

This time I was able to try some of their stamping nail polishes. I chose two colors that I don't have yet in Konad or other stamping brands, yellow and red.
And I decided to mix both of them for my first stamping using more than one color haha ! Let's see what I did, then I'll give you my advice on these stamping polishes :)

I painted my nails in white with China Glaze Snow (two coats), then I did the stamping with the two colors from BPS and plate BM308. I added thin coat of China Glaze Wireless for an extra bling and ended with one coat of Seche Vite.

Getting the two colors for the stamping is easy, you just have to work quick so it doesn't dry: I applied some lines of each color randomly on the plate, mixed them a bit with a toothpick, scraped and stamped, that's all :)

On to the stamping polishes !
To be honest, I was really disappointed when I first opened the bottles, as the polishes looked jelly. I though they would never stamp correctly or opaque with such a texture, especially the yellow one. So I made a test on paper and I completely changed my mind !
Once stamped on paper, they appeared to be totally opaque, but also very bright and beautiful. The red is not a vampy red, it has a bit of orange in it, but used on it's own, it's still red.
They don't dry too fast, which makes them easy to play with.

I also tried them over a black polish to test their opacity. They are not totally opaque but still work well, but I noticed a slight color change over black: the yellow turned like lime green, the red one turned pink.

I'd say these are perfect to work over light or medium colors. For very dark colors, I still prefer to use metallic polishes that always remain opaque :)
For the price, you won't be disappointed !

You can find these on Born Pretty Store, under the Beauty Nai Art/Nail Art Stamping category.
Each bottle contains 3ml of product and costs 2.05$.
Don't forget you can also have free shipping, and get 10% off on your order with my code AYUUMIK31 :)

Did you like this manicure ?

Have a nice day :)

Hello !

Sunday Stamping Challenge: Red & Black

Hi dear readers !

Well, this is going to be my last post before my holiday break, but I don't really leave you ! There will be guest posts and interviews during the whole month of august. Stay tuned, more information will come this wednesday :)

Yesterday's stamping challenge was to use red and black, and as soon as I saw the theme I knew what to do :)

I used the gorgeous China Glaze City Siren as the base. It's a very beautiful and classy red. I stamped some circles from the Bundle Monster plate BM322 with black Konad polish and filled some of them with China Glaze Ruby Pumps, using a dotting tool. That's all :)

It's simple but I like it !
City Siren was a bit hard to clean up as it stained my cuticles, but now I think it's okay. I just hope it won't stain my nails when I remove it !

Do you like it ?

Have a nice day :)

Hello :)

Independance Day Manicure

Hi dear readers !

In three years of blogging, I've never celebrated something with a manicure. It always came when I don't had time, or when I had something else planned ...
So today I'm very happy to pay a tribute to all my fellow American readers on this 4th of July !

At first I wanted to copy another blogger, Pshiiit, who did a great American flag using only stamping.
But once I came back home, I realised that I just don't have these plates ! How could I forget it ? I must be very tired haha :D
The only stars pattern I have is the one from Bundle Monster's first set, and it's made of stars of different sizes, far away from the even and well aligned stars from the USA flag ...
Anyway I decided to use it and go for something a bit unstructured, making my stripes with the sugar spun technique to make something uneven, too :)

My red base is Essence Applause, Applause, the blue accent is Color Club Cold Metal. I made the sugar spun with China Glaze Snow and the stamping with white Konad polish and plate BM 20.

I loved the result, I didn't plan at all to do this and thought I'd go more conventionnal but I'm glad of this interpretation of the American flag :)

What do you think ? Do you like it ?

Have a nice day :)

An Unknown Polish and Shooting Stars

Hi dear readers !

Did this already happened to you ? You paint your nails, take pics for your blog or for record, want to post them some weeks later and then, you don't remember at all what you used ...

That's happened to me with these pictures. I loved this mani, but I can't remember at all what I used as the base. I searched into my stash, compared with my nail wheels and didn't find anything similar. That's terrible, isn't it ?

So, this is the unknown dark red polish, topped with one coat of China Glaze Shooting Stars and a matte accent on the ring finger.
My first idea was to make all the nails matte, but when I saw how glossy Shooting Stars is on it's own, I didn't want to lose that effect :)

I love Shooting Stars a lot, it's a very pretty and festive top coat with beautiful effects. And it works well glossy or matte :)

Do you like it ?
Maybe one day I'll wear that red polish again and remember what it was ... :)

Thanks for reading :)

Have a nice day ^^

China Glaze Ruby Pumps

Hi dear readers !

The week is finally over ! Today's post will be quick and short, I'm so tired, I really need to rest :)

I'll show you a classic beauty i don't have to introduce you anymore: China Glaze Ruby Pumps. That was the first time i wore it as a full manicure, and I still wonder why I didn't wear it sooner :)

See that red glitter beauty ? It's perfection in a bottle. I love everything in that polish, from the dreamy application to the gorgeous final look.
The removal needed the foil technique to remove those sticky glitters, but it didn't stain (which happens mostly with reds on me)

That polish is really a mus have in every polish lover stash - unless you really hate red lol :)

What's your advice ? Let me know :)

Have a nice weekend :)

Valentine Nails: Garden of Hearts

Hi dear readers !

Tomorrow's Valentine day ... Do you do something special for that occasion ?
My boyfriend and I don't do something special for that day ... Oh we ate a cute little heart-shaped cake saturday but that's all :) I don't really like the commercial part in that celebration ... But isn't it a good reason to make cute nails with hearts ? :p

This is what i did for this week Adventures in Stamping challenge, the theme was obviously Valentine Day :)
To get this result, I first used one coat of Catrice Rock Barock, a sheer nude pink with a very slight shimmer.
Then I sponged from the tips through half of the nail with China Glaze Phat Santa, and sponged again with China Glaze Ruby Pumps, only on the tips for a bling.
Finally I stamped the hearts with Konad plate m83 and special polish in white. Doens't this design look like little flower with hearts on top ?

Unfortunately, the glitter from Ruby Pumps don't show on my pics :( They are more present in real life.

What do you think of my V-day nails ? :)

I plan on doing another V-Day design as I'd like to try an idea I had ... Well, I won't tell more, in case I fail lol ^^

Will you paint your nails with something special for tomorrow ? If so, feel free to add the link in your comments, I'd love to see them :)

Have a nice day ^^

Explosion Tape Manicure

Hi dear readers !

I have already told you about my love for Jane's adorable tape designs on her blog, Nailside. When I found nails stencils with those peaked shapes, I immediatly thought of her Explosion manicure.
I found those in German, the brand is called Smart Nail Art but I have no idea where you can find them outside Germany. Well, it's a basic kind of supply so I guess you should find something similar easily (or be a bit braver than me and cut stripes of tape with your scissors lol)

I used Catrice Glamourista, a red creme from an old collection (Glamourama - Winter 2010) as the base, waited for it to be dry, applied the stencils and then used one coat of OPI Spark de Triomphe.
To be honest, I didn't really want to make an accent nail, but I failed with the stencil on the ring finger and didn't want to start again with base coat and red on that finger. An accent nail wasn't too bad :p

I liked how this turned. I should really try to cut some tape and do this design again with other colors :)

What about you, do you love it ?

Be ready, the next post will be posted here on wednesday ... but it will be a guest post !
Guess who will write something here ? Stay tuned ;)

Have a nice day :)

My Christmas Manicure

Hi dear readers :)

Today I'll finally show you what I had on my nails for Christmas ! I should have shown you it before, but well, I didn't have a lot of time ...

As I was wearing Ruby Pumps last week, I decided to go for little Santa coats on my nails. I saw that design on a lot of blogs this year and found it adorable :)

I'm not so happy about the final look I got ... The white stripes are too thick and the belt buckle was a bit hard to paint perfectly for me ... But I like it for a first try :)

What do you think ?

For the base I used China Glaze Ruby Pumps, the white is China Glaze Snow, the black is a liner from Essence and the buckle was painted with China Glaze Millenium.

Thank you for watching and commenting :)

Have a nice day ^^

Festive Nails with Essence Circus Circus

Hi dear readers :)

I wish you all a merry Christmas, I hope you spent a nice festive evening with your parents, friends and beloved ones :)

I have a festive manicure for you today. That's not what I was wearing for Christmas (I'll show you that later) but I did those nails during last week, invested by all the festive things around me in the city :)

I wanted to use My Sparkling Acrobat from Essence Circus Circus LE, a two sided polish bottle with black creme on a side and gold glitters on the other. But I also wanted to add a little something more in it, so I chose to layer the red glitters from Applause Applause (the other side of this one is a red creme)

So, I started with two coats of black, then added one coat of red glitters (I should have taken a pic at this point, it was really pretty), and finished with one coat of the golden glitters and top coat (Seche Vite)
Here's what I got:
A closer view of the pretty glitters ... As you can see, there are thin round and bigger squared glitters in these polish, like in some of the Essence's Twins :
I love that Essence LE, the polish are quite basics but they have a good quality, the glitters apply easily and evenly, I think that's the kind of basics every polish lover should have in their stash :)

Do you like that combo ?

I made two other festive manicures, more with the Christmas colors this time, I hope I'll be able to show you them this week :)

Have a nice day :)

Orly Rage & OPI Red Shatter

Hi dear readers !

I hope you're fine ! The weekend is approaching, yay !
Did you enter my giveaway ? If you haven't yet, check it here ! Oh, and don't forget to read the rules please ... I won't count any comment as entries, you have to use the form. I hate to dismiss people from my giveaways but it's much more easy for you and for me to enter with a form :)

Today I'll show you a combo I loved. When OPI's Red Shatter was released, it was possible to buy it as a set with Rally Pretty Pink. That's what I did but as much as I love RPP, I really don't like it topped with Red Shatter, so I needed to find something to match with red shatter.
I first thought of a nice gold shimmer, but I don't have such a polish (what a shame !) so I went for Orly Rage, a nice rose gold foil released for Spring 2010 in the Foil FX collection.

I was very glad of that combo. Orly Rage had a good application and was opaque in two coats. OPI Red Shatter applied easily, and I love how OPI's crackle polish look, the crackles are large enough to show the base polish, it's well balanced.

Do you like that combo ?
What colour would you use with a red crackle like this ?

If you're looking for Orly Rage, it's still available as it has been re-released in Orly's Holiday 2011 collection Bling in the New Year :)

Have a nice day ^^

Dexter Manicure

Hi dear readers !

Let me wish you a happy Halloween :D What do you do for that day ?
Here in belgium, we don't really celebrate it, except in some places where they organize a special Halloween event ... Some years ago when it started to be a trend here, children came to ask for a trick or a treat, but they are less year after year ...
I planned on making a special manicure for Halloween but it looks like my stamping skills are gone for today, so I'll show you something that's not really Halloween related but is a bit in today's mood :)

I'm not a big TV fan but there are some shows I really love and enjoy, and Dexter is one of them. I started to watch it two years ago, I saw all the seasons that were available and promised to myself that I'd make a "Dexter Blood Splatter Manicure" when the 6th season would be released. Well, it has been released in the beginning of the month, so here are my Dexter nails :)

For this easy manicure, I first made a classic white french (because my tips are a bit stained and I didn't want to show them like that) with an Essence Tip Painter and Catrice Rock Barock, a very sheer pink.
Then I created the blood splatters with a straw, using Eyeko Saucy Polish and this technique.
I finally added one coat of Seche Vite for the glossy touch. That's all :)

The pic above shows my right hand. When I do splatter manicures, I always prefer the result on the right hand, I can't explain it :p

That's all for today :)
Do you like that bloody look ?

What are your favorite TV shows ? Are you a Dexter fan as I am ? :D

Have a nice day, and a Happy Halloween :D

China Glaze Phat Santa & Milani Jewel FX Gold

Hi dear readers :)

Today i'd like to show you a manicure I made some weeks ago. I just got Milani Jewel FX in Gold that day and couldn't wait to try it, but I didn't want to use it as a full manicure... I think I was too lazy for the removal of all those glitters lol :)

Red and gold is a combo that usually works, so I too an untried polish from my stash: China Glaze Phat Santa from Xmas 2010 LE.
Phat Santa is a gorgeous deep red creme, a very sexy shade, but it was a bit sheer and I used 3 coats for a good coverage. That's not in my habits, I rarely use more than two coats, but this one is so pretty despite of that little flaw...

I used Milani Jewel FX Gold as an accent on my ring finger. Here's the result, soooo blingy ! I loved it :)

I had some tip wear on the second day, because of a top coat that I should throw in the trashcan ... I'm sorry to say that, but Catrice bases and top coats don't work at all for me. Their polish and colours are really great for such a price, I'll just don't use their nail care range again ... (except the whitening base which works great but dries fast in the bottle)

So, to hide those awful white tips (I know they are not that bad, but with such a red I really don't like it), I applied some glitters from Milani Gold, like if it had been sponged. I didn't use a sponge, I just tapped the brush to place glitters randomly on my tips. Fast and easy to create :)

I liked how it turned. Now I've tried Milani Gold, I totally need the silver one :p
What do you think ? Do you like that kind of polish or is it too much bling for you ?

If you want to know what it looks like as a full manicure and don't want to wait for a swatch from me, check Scrangie's blog to see her great pics and also what it looks like topped on a purple polish. So yummy !

Have a nice day :)

Pink Wednesday: Essence Fashion Stickers

Hi dear readers :)

I already showed you some Fashion Nail Stickers by Essence a while ago, here. They were a part of the I Love Berlin Collection but since, Essence released some other designs in their usual range.
I picked some pink stripes for you today :)

These are called Catwalk. The design ispink, red and white stripes. The red looks like orange on the pics, but believe me, it's red in real life (in fact a very dark shade of pink with red in it)

Each each Essence sticker pack, you'll find 14 pieces with different sizes, so you might find what suits you the best. With the Berlin stickers I had to cut some of them, but I had no problem this time. I just didn't follow the order they come in, for exemple the 6th sticker from a board (right before the smallest one) fits better my index.

They are easy to apply once you have the habit with these. To remove the excess, I just filed them with a very smooth file, then cut with a harder file. Filing makes some "tip wear" as you can see in the pic above, but it's not too much, and it didn't move on the next days of wearing.
On the  pic below you can see some bumps on the tips, this come from the dish washing. Except for that, they seem to stay well on nails. I still have them on right now and there all still well stuck :)
Oh, I thought using some top coat would protect the stickers, but it peeled after a few hours, it doesn't adhere to the surface of the stickers :)
However, I used a base coat even if they say it's not useful. I'm sure it will protect my nail bed better when I'll have to peel the stickers off.

My actual base coat is from Gosh and I totally love it, I have  less tip wear, a lot less chipping and a bit less stain (but I still have to try it with a deep blue to verify that point)

Do you like those nail stickers ? Do you use full nails stickers or decals ?

Have a nice day :)
